Congratulations to our ‘Best Regional Hospitals’ Partners
We are honored to support these facilities, which made the U.S. News & World Report 2021 Best Regional Hospitals Top 20 list.
August 26, 2021
Health systems have been enduring tremendous hardships during the pandemic. At Provider Solutions & Development, we are proud to support several partners who have not only cared for vulnerable communities during this challenging time, but have done so at an award-winning level.
U.S. News & World Report recently released its Best Hospitals by Region rankings — given to facilities with at least six high-performing ratings across 17 procedures and conditions, or a national ranking in at least one data-driven adult specialty and three high-performing ratings.
As we celebrate these achievements, we talked with some of our recruiters to learn more about what makes these hospitals so special.
#1 Best Hospitals by Region
Alaska
Providence Alaska Medical Center is the largest, most comprehensive hospital in the state and the only one with a dedicated Children’s Hospital. PAMC has a nationally recognized Level II trauma center, heart and cancer centers, Alaska’s largest emergency department with LifeMed Alaska air ambulance transport, as well as substance abuse recovery services for adults and children.
“Each provider hired at PAMC makes a huge impact on the state as a whole,” says DJ Barker, Senior Physician Recruiter for PS&D. “For every specialist, that equates to numerous families being able to stay local without traveling great distances for their care. PAMC strives to be a ‘Patient First’ organization, and you can see and feel it in the behavior of every caregiver. They are so used to going that extra mile for patients, it’s now the norm.”
Hawaii
The Queen’s Medical Center is the largest private nonprofit hospital in Hawaii. This Magnet-recognized medical center has a dedicated residency training program, is a major specialty referral center and is home to the state’s only organ transplant program.
“Queen’s mission to provide healthcare to native Hawaiians has lived on since the 1800s. They provide such a crucial service to the underinsured,” says Physician Recruiter Kyle Travers. “They are the only Level I trauma center in the state of Hawaii, which means they are the last line of support to the community. Physicians and APCs get to practice at the top of their license and work with some of the best providers in the state.”
Massachusetts
Massachusetts General Hospital ranked #1 on the Best Hospitals by Region list and ranked #5 on the national list. Located in Boston, it is the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and a biomedical research facility. Mass General is a Magnet hospital and has an innovative Department of Anesthesia that conducts leading-edge investigations in Critical Care medicine, neurosciences, biomedical engineering, patient safety and simulation.
Montana
Providence St. Patrick Hospital is a pillar of the community in Western Montana, providing the most advanced care in the region. A designated Primary Stroke Center and Level II trauma facility, St. Patrick also houses the International Heart Institute of Montana and collaborates with the University of Montana, to innovate patient care.
“People are often surprised about the innovative care and work taking place in Missoula,” says Senior Physician Recruiter Melisa Kennedy. “For example, each year the International Heart Institute hosts the Rocky Mountain Valve Symposium, which draws heart specialists from around the world for workshops, lectures and training in new procedures. What has remained constant through the years is their ability to provide highly advanced and deeply compassionate care to all patients.”
Nevada
As the only Level II trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, Renown Regional Medical Center offers the most advanced care in the northern Nevada region. It is home to the area’s only children’s hospital and has a leading robotic surgery institute. For three years in a row, RRMC has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation for emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention/control, leadership and medication management.
“What I love about recruiting for Renown is that they are really dedicated to supporting physicians where their interests lie,” says Senior Physician Recruiter Amy Knoup. “There is a lot of opportunity for providers to build their practice as they'd like. Renown Regional Medical Center also entered an affiliation with the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine where physicians can continue with academics and research.”
